KYMCO celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 with the appointment of Allen Ko as the Chairman of its global powersports group. Over the past five decades, KYMCO has successfully marketed more than 10 million scooters, motorcycles, e-bikes, side-by-sides and ATVs in 100 countries, with an annual sales revenue exceeding USD 1 billion.

Mr. Ko represents a new generation of leadership, whose vision goes beyond KYMCO’s vehicle making expertise. He possesses not only first-hand knowledge of the powersports industry but also profound business acumen in the digital economy and the financial market. Mr. Ko aims to make KYMCO a leading global powersports group in the upcoming electric vehicle era.

As a powersports enthusiast, Mr. Ko has participated in motor racing and worked in repair shops. He is both a power user and an industry insider, making him a business leader who possesses industry insights in unparalleled depth and scope.

Mr. Ko built his career from the ground up in KYMCO’s IT department. He worked in KYMCO’s Strategic Planning Division, where he participated in several JV and M&A transactions and served on the board of Capital Investment Trust Corporation, Capital Securities Corporation, and Ta Chong Bank.

In 2011, Mr. Ko founded KYMCO Capital, a PE fund management company focused on the EV ecosystem. He promoted close collaboration between start-ups and established brands through strategic equity participation. With Ko’s visionary approach, KYMCO evolved from a powersports brand to the epicenter of an all-encompassing EV ecosystem.

In 2018, Mr. Ko launched Ionex, an EV total solution that comprises a complete range of electric vehicles, charging facilities, removable batteries, advanced IT systems, and an overarching worldwide cloud platform. Ionex accelerated KYMCO’s EV transition, leading to the launch of 10 new electric models and a collaboration with Grab for the electrification of its 2 million two-wheeler service fleet, the largest of its kind in the world.

Mr. Ko continues to lead KYMCO into the future. In 2019, he was appointed Advisory Chairman of Noodoe, a global leader in EV charging whose mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to zero-emission electric vehicles. In 2021, he was elected Chairman of the Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliances, organizer of Smart City Summit & Expo, one of the world’s largest smart city events.

Chairman Ko has a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from National Tsing Hua University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Cornell University.
